Plot

“It has been an eternity since the four Pokégods were sealed in the legend balls…” begins the game. And now, hundreds of years later, they have been consolidated into a single region, Beaulés, west of Magore. Eseal, the Se Corp empire’s heir, is on the hunt for them; ever since the clash with team soul, with the Pokégods in his grasp, he has been unstoppable… You, on the other hand, have a journey to begin. Follow in the footsteps of your sister and become a Pokémon master. With such major events taking place, you might even be able to save the world…”

After reading the legend, you meet Professor Oak, a Pokémon researcher. He asks the player his or her name, as well as the name of your opponent. After that, you’ll be at home. There is a potion on your PC that can restore your Pokémon’s HP by 20 if it is damaged. The player must then exit the building and proceed straight ahead. Prof. Oak will stop him, warning the player not to go near the tall grass because it is dangerous to go without a Pokémon to protect you. He then takes you to his lab, where his grandson, your rival, is waiting for him with bated breath. He gives you both a very rare, one-of-a-kind Pokemon. You can select one of three starter Pokémon:

• Magid – A Grass- and Electric-type Pokémon. It knows two moves: Tackle and Leech Seed. Recommended for players new to the series.
• Flaon – A Fire-type Pokémon. It knows two moves: Scratch and Growl. Recommended for experienced players.
• Bliqu – A Water-type Pokémon. It knows two moves: Tackle and Charm. Recommended for intermidiate-level players.

After selecting your starter, you will face off against your opponent. Your opponent will always choose the more advantageous option. If the player selected Magid, he will select Flaon. If Flaon is chosen, he will select Bliqu. If Bliqu is chosen, he will go with Magid. It is advised to use the Potion during combat. After the battle, Oak lets the two new Trainers embark on their journey across Beaulés. When the player visits Viridian City’s Poké Mart, he discovers that a package for the professor has arrived, and the clerk requests that it be delivered to him. After that, the professor hands out two Pokédexes, one for the player and one for the rival, and sends them on their way. Viridian has a Gym, but it is locked. Following that, the player must traverse the Viridian Forest. The player must then defeat Gym Leader Brock in Pewter City, Misty in Cerulean City, Lt. Surge in Vermillion City, Erika in Celadon City, Koga in Fuchsia City, Sabrina in Saffron City, Blaine in Cinnabar Island, and Giovanni in Viridian City. Following that, the player will face the Elite Four, followed by his or her opponent.
