Description

Unova Red’s sequel is Pokemon Kalos Crystal. This is a reimagining of Generation 2, with the first generation of Pokemon being the Unova Pokedex and the new second-generation Pokemon being the Kalos Pokedex. This game includes all Pokemon from Generations 5 and 6, and, as with Unova Red, all Pokemon in the Pokedex can be obtained in a single playthrough.

Apart from the new Pokemon, the game plays largely the same as the original. The inclusion of Fairy types is the most notable difference. This game also updates the type matchup chart to the modern chart introduced in Generation 6. All new attacks added in Unova Red remain, as do several new attacks to fill out the new Fairy type, add some signature moves to Gen 6 Pokemon, and simply flesh out some underrepresented types. An equal number of moves were also removed from the game, most of which were signature moves of Gen 1 & 2 Pokemon or simply moves that did not work well with Gen 5 & 6 Pokemon.

All standard trade evolutions have been changed to standard level-up evolutions, as they were in Unova Red, and some stone evolutions have also been modified. All Gen 5 Pokemon evolve in the same way that they did in Unova Red. The spoiler logs contain a complete list of evolution methods.

Some TMs have been modified, and a complete list can be found in the spoiler logs. Notably, TMs are still only usable once, as they were in Gen 2. In addition, moves are still classified as Physical or Special based on their type, as they were in Gen 2. The only exception is that Ghost is classified as SPECIAL, whereas Dark is classified as PHYSICAL (as in Unova Red). In addition, the new Fairy type has been designated as SPECIAL.
