As the name suggests, Pokemon Sword and Shield GBA tries to adapt the history and region of the original pokemon sword and shield games for the Nintendo Switch with characters, events, and even systems.

Logically it is not 100% the same as the switch version but, it as good as you’re gonna get for GBA.

• (creator’s commentary) this is my first rom so don’t expect anything to go head-to-head with these ROMs that have been in production for years.
  -to Gigantamax/Dynamax your pokemon (the ones that can Gigantamax/Dynamax) you need to get a wishing star and activate it in battle by pressing start.

About the game

Sword and Shield’s events take place in the Galar region, a large, narrow expanse of land that is one of many in the Pokémon world. The game’s director, Shigeru Ohmori, described it as a more modern setting. The region is heavily influenced by the United Kingdom, with many landmarks resembling the Houses of Parliament and the Cerne Abbas Giant. Country towns with cottages and Victorian architecture can be found to the south of the Galar region. An Industrial Revolution-style city with steampunk elements populates the region’s centre.

As implemented by Rose, the Galar Pokémon League Chairman, many of the region’s towns and cities have Pokémon Gyms designed to look like football stadiums, displaying both Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing. Snow-covered mountains dominate much of the region’s northern areas. The Wild Area, a large open world area with many roaming Pokémon species, covers a large portion of the region’s south-central region. The weather in the Wild Area changes frequently.

As with Pokémon Sun and Moon, Pokémon previously introduced in previous games, such as Weezing, gain regional Galarian Forms with new typings, stats, and appearances. Some Pokémon, such as Linoone and Meowth, can even evolve in different regions.
